My name is Deirdre. I have good intentions for keeping up my blog. It has a funny way of not staying as updated as I'd planned though...

Dood Update

We've always called the Wee One "Dude."

"Hey Dude, what's up?" is a standard greeting that gets said maybe 35,927 times a day, both my myself and The Pilot (daddy).  So anyways, I swear he says, "Hey Dood."  Like all the time.  You just can't help but smile.  Other words include, "I do" "Muh" for more, "eye," "mama," "dada," "ya" and the ubiquitous "doo."  Doo is yes most of the time or an agreement of some sort.  He's mimicking words and sounds very often.

One of his favorite things to do is shake his head.  So the answer to most questions is "NO."  So it will go something like this:  "E, are you done with your lunch?" (insert head shake here)  "E, would you like more lunch?" (insert head shake here).  You get the idea.  Sometimes we have fun with this... More often than not it leaves an exasperated mommy who just does what she wants anyways!  Ha.  But he's actually starting to use "NO" as a real answer too.  Oy vey.  This child is opinionated!

Not so delightful is the new level of pitch this kid has mastered.  I've dubbed it "The Screech."  He is now very vocal about what he likes and wants, and even more vocal about what he does not like or want!  He will squeal the most high pitched scream to indicate either.  Or both.  Or one.  Then the other.

He's in a relatively calm period.  No serious teething, mental leaps or growth spurts going on.  He's growing in height like a weed though.  He still doesn't seem to be completely aware of his head in reference to spacial distance and conks it on things often.

The Dood is also very much obsessed with biting and pinching.  This is not fun and not cool.

He's walking, running, but not quite skipping.  ;-)

Two of his favorite chores are vacuuming, literally, and pulling things out of the washer one by one and handing them up to me for the dryer.  SO cute.

He chuckles and chortles all the time.

Another passion is feeding himself.  He insists of feeding himself with the spoon and form a majority of the time.  This has proven...interesting.  But definitely good learning and dexterity!

The Pilot is not currently able to run with us in the morning, and every time we pass the house he goes into a "Dada" frenzy.  He knows that's where dada should be, and dang it, why isn't he with us?!

The Dood is also quite good at following simple commands and associating the correct word with an object.  It's pretty impressive.

I'm sure as soon as I post this I will think of more...

**Totat side note:  Get it?  The Pilot?!  I think this is wonderfully, delightfully hilarious on so many levels!  His (lame) college mascot was....a Pilot.  What is he now?  A Pilot!  In the sense of his occupation and the Pilot of this household.  Hahaha.  So great.
